just got home from lido. Watched 300 with my family. I don’t remember watching movies with them before. Think… they are too tired to speak, so no comments from them after the show. HAHAHAHA First time watching digital movie too. Feels the same as the grainy one, not much diff. Good movie. well worth my time and money, as some of you know I seldom watch movie in cinemas…

And I realised… monday is a good time to come out to shop and watch movie. Tickets are cheaper… $6.50… and basically the shops are somewhat empty. So the salesperson are more forth coming to help. Good stuff.

the much dreaded 206 lab is down!!! Got quite a decent mark. Thanx to fujuan for bringing the board back and forth, and those who helped me along the way. Thanx!!! HAHAHAHA sounds like I won a prize or something. But no…… I’m just glad it’s over.

Soon it’s 208 next, then 207/205… then ………. the shittiest of all… DDP.

On this friday night, I just want to say something to someone. After 2 failed attempts and numerous comparisons, there is just no one as good as you.

to those who screwed up my life, I’m sure you’ll screw up yours sooner or later.

Especially…. IRO. wished I was born in usa or canada, or uk. ABC/BBC. but i’ll keep trying…. till I touch those lands that my parents failed to.

After a week of whacking my laptop and router, these are some points I’ve discovered.

1. my laptop uses AMD Turion64 X2 TL 56 which has 64bit, hardware DEP and Hardware Virtualization. Clearly the best processor in my house now. Battery life sucks though, but is not a problem as I have 2 batteries. The wireless is a Broadcom 802.11a/b/g … WOO~ good stuff. Love my laptop. Totally.
2. 32-bit ms vista is not bad. The compatibility with most of the programs I’m currently using is amazingly good. Haven’t run into a program that cannot execute yet, though some installers such as the HEW is really weird as it failed to create the icons, but installed nicely. And….. no blue screen of death yet. Closest I’ve came across is the message that my nvidia graphics driver screwed up and stopped responding, so it was stopped and restarted. Just a little balloon, not a BSOD.
3.  The dlink gaming router is good, but not as good as I’ve hoped to be. The bittorrent downloads increased a fair bit… but still haven’t get past 500KBps. And…. the latest version of firmware, version 1.7 is SCREWED!!!! DON’T FREAKING USE IT! 
   I kept disconnecting from the router, I thought was my linksys usb adapter that was screwing me up since my laptop wireless was fine. So I went out to buy a compatible dlink usb adapter… which ended up the same. It turned out to be the buggy router’s fault. Switching back to the older ver 1.6 solved the problem. Only occasionally when I was transferring super large files to the NAS then it died, but quickly recovered. Hell, was thinking if I should revert back to 1.5 which came with the router, and everything was fine.
4. DNS-120 NAS. ok… basically, this thing works but slow. not acceptable. I still believed that for NAS to work, we need gigabit ethernet. But for now, it’s good enough. So… unless it’s on discount like in my case…, don’t buy it.

Good week, but lots of stuffs in the lab to do.

week 10 liao!!! shit.

This weekend, I bought lots of things. 12 inch laptop, Dlink gaming router, Dlink NAS, Seagate 320gb external hdd and a Antec NEO HE 430W power supply.

The power supply wasn’t supposed to be bought, but the fateful Sunday morning, the computer crashed and refused to startup. After some diagnosis, it turned out that my Antec Truepower 480W died. Supposed to have 3 yrs warranty. So it’s off to Corbell to get it replaced. Then it will become my spare PSU. shiok.

Vista Home Premium came with my laptop. The initialization of windows is painfully slow. Think it took more than an hour. But after that, vista is a breeze. But somehow I feel windows xp is still faster… just a little bit. Of course I started off by uninstalling norton… and quickly scanning for other weird programs that might bog down my system. I had a windows xp tablet edition at hand, just in case I want to switch back to windows xp. But I after reading the hassle in dual booting with vista, I decide to stick with vista for a while longer. Hopefully getting the 64bit version soon since my turion64 x2 can support 64bit. Batt life is less than satisfactory… prolly should find ways to turn off the tablet function when I don’t need it.

Well. it’s a happy weekend. HAHAHAHA just me and my toys.
