No sex please, we’re singapore. In addition to the fine city slogan, no chewing gum, now no sex. Singapore rocks. A380 brought the limelight on SIA, and in turn on Singapore. Ho ho. Weird way to see Singapore.

On the other hand, Zune 2 came out and looking much better than before, too bad the marketing is below par to the competitor again, thus I don’t think I will see much of it in Singapore when I get back.

Exams for my first segment is over, decided to take a break and visit fellow Singaporeans in Lund. Thankfully Ming Keat offered us shelter in Lund for 2 nights. Lund being close to Malmo and Copenhagen, me and richard decided to visit those as well. Lund is a small small town, but it has Burger King! Jonkoping being much bigger does not have. Damn. And the Burger King here have whopper garlic, double whopper, double whopper garlic, Big King. Nice.

Had dinner with the SMU people in Lund as well, met Kai Hong, old pal from ri. Kai Hong said Benedict, also in smu, is also from ri, but one year older, hullet captain. I don’t quite remember somewhat, but nvm, cool dudes. Sorry I forgot to take pictures with them. urgh. Still getting used to this cam whoring thing.

Copenhagen was dark and gloomy and foggy when we drop by. Gave the old buildings a hazy look, the atmosphere is really like watching an old film. My mind and legs slowed down a bit. Afterall this trip was to relax, slow down my pace from exams. Perfect. But there are more people, which I hate somewhat. Hate the crowds. if only there were as few people as Jonkoping, then it would be almost perfect. The guy steering the canal tour boat impressed me with his skill to go through the narrow narrow openings under the bridge. Very good. And the guide can speak 3 languages at least, dannish, english, french. Good. Had dinner with smu dudes and ming keat as well, not bad. Hope we can meet back in Singapore and eat again.

Malmo was a little smaller, lesser things to see than in cph. Nonetheless the Malmohus museum, for only 20 sek, we got to see quite a far bit of exhibit, ranging from real to fake creatures, castle, the furnitures and treasures from the castle and also entrance to the naval museum near malmohus. However due to time constraint, as it was Saturday, shops and museums close early, so we didn’t get to go to the naval museum. Other stuffs are quite normal. The turning torso building is quite interesting, but pity we couldn’t enter the building, and to pay 30 sek to watch some film on it… don’t seem too enticing. By the time we got back to Lund, it was almost time to leave, so we ate at Burger King (oh yes!) and started the long way back to Jonkoping. We left Jonkoping on day 1 in the middle of the night 3am, and came back in the middle of the night 2am as well. Halloween party going on when we came back, lots of people on the street, more drunk than ever.

Looking at the neowin article on the new Ubuntu Linux 7 Gusty Gibbon….
Is Linux ready? is the question.

Watching the youtube video about the UI Compiz Fusion, which is new in this version. Seems a bit like windows (esp. vista), should make things easier to learn. I’m very tempted to say yes esp. with wine and virtualbox available.

But I was reminded of the skype installation last year on a version of ubuntu I installed (fiesty fawn or something like that). The installation failed cause I need to install some dependencies shit which I’m lazy to find. If all the linux applications install like windows, then it would be good to port NOW. I’m kinda fed up with vista, turned off all the aero and sidebar. I need no such eye candies shit when it comes to UI. I just want things to work. god damn it. So to all linux developers, include ALL dependencies in the package to download or at least POINT US TO WHERE WE CAN GET IT. Thanks. Non technies are lazy and ill informed, which is why we want things to JUST work! I think the problem with linux was never with the operating systems but the applications. Too many dependencies to download, and one could possibly end up with a whole load of big chunk operating system of dependencies. Optimizing it to trim down the size isn’t something non technies would do, cause we are still figuring out how to backup data correctly…… But I would download the next ubuntu version 8 to try and possibly port over in version 10… meanwhile… it’s still windows xp for me. If it’s ain’t broken, don’t fix it… like os X… was it 10.5 now after several years?

Gordon popped by, Thanks! I hope I was a good host. It’s just a short visit for him to Sweden, nothing much in Jonkoping, so we went to a nearby town which I wanted to visit. Granna. Near Granna is Visingso, the island on Lake Vattern… the huge lake that is just beside Jonkoping. Richard, Cherry and Gigi joined us as well. Bad day to go as there is no bus service on the island on Sundays… So we had to walk and forgo some of the places further away. Candy shops are closed as well. Luckily one restaurant is open, so we had something to eat though I brought fish fingers. Anyway, I’m really glad to meet 老朋友. Thanks again! Knew you went out of the way to come here. Appreciate that. Great weekend. On to the pictures. And some brief pics of Goteborg later.
